Substack 40: Follow The White Rabbit

Wake up, Neo… The Matrix has you… Follow the white rabbit. It sometimes surprises me when movies or tv shows show so much of what is hidden and people eat it up. Especially the more popular it is. I don’t understand it. People could watch dystopian art such as the Matrix, Hunger Games, Ex Machina and Black Mirror and have their eyes opened but leave that experience with such little understanding and awareness of what is going on around them. More-so even that of the reality around them. I think people always identifying with the hero of the story and the rebel with a noble cause, yet in real life they, willingly or unwillingly, choose the opposite side. The empire. if you will. I wish there was a more clear cut phenomenon to describe this, if there is please let me know. But I have tried to explore the rationale of how people can be enlightened through art yet still be caught up in that which has control over their mind. Perspectives are hard to change. It is kind of one of those scenarios that the more you try to make sense of it, the less sense it makes.
